SPICY DIPS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Nothing jump starts the metabolism like spices. During the holidays, it can be so easy to gain weight but not if your fridge is packed with amazing dips like this one. This dip contains raw apple cider vinegar – also beneficial for weight loss and full of live bacteria and enzymes – both great for enhancing digestion, which leads to weight loss. Get Dipping.
Being a mom and business owner, I find myself running from my home office to the kitchen and looking for something to eat on the quick. If I do not have good stuff like this in my fridge, then I am headed to the pantry and find myself eating something I have no business eating. Yep, I am human.
When you have awesome dips like this in the fridge, packed with protein, high vitamin A, C, antioxidants like beta carotene – you get satisfied on all levels. Why not dip into something good instead of running to the pantry and eating a food that is not fresh and packed with all this goodness.
Almond and Red Pepper Dip (gluten free, sugar free and vegan)
INGREDIENTS
1 cup raw almonds, soaked*
1 large red bell pepper
1 clove garlic, peeled
1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon chili powder or a fresh chili
pinch of cayenne pepper
salt to taste
the juice of 1/4 lemon
INSTRUCTIONS
*NOTE-Soak almonds for 6 hours in water and 1 tbsp. raw apple cider vinegar then rinse almonds – this removes the phytic acid that inhibits thyroid and messes with metabolism and assimilation of nutrients.
To Make – Blend in a high-speed blender or food processer until smooth. I blend for about 2-3 minutes. Store in fridge for 2-3 days or serve immeditaly.
A note about Phytic Acid:
Even gluten-free grains can cause inflammation, because they contain phytic acid, which suppresses thyroid function and inhibits digestion. Phytic acid is a mineral that prevents the absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and zinc. It is found not only in grains, but in seeds, nuts, and beans as well.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SOAKING GRAINS AND NUTS TO REMOVE PHYTIC ACID:
The general rule is to add enough warm water to cover the grains or nuts, and then add a small amount of an acid medium to every one cup of grain. You can choose a dairy-based acid medium (such as whey), or a dairy-free option (such as lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar). Then tightly cover and soak overnight (or up to 24-hours). Rinse the nuts and then use for the recipe.
