How to detox emotionally and thrive in your life

Getting behind this underlying emotional starvation is a big part of a successful detox. When people think of detox, they think food, but detox is so much more. Detox is about opening the heart, the mind, and the soul. Detox is about letting go of what does not serve you anymore like negative self-talk or negative people.

Detox is about letting go.

I am all about the food. Trust me. I have an autoimmune, so detox is a big part of my life. But, I know the emotional aspect of detox is just as important.

Here are three of the best emotional detox tips I recommend:


  • Create a vision board: A vision board is a large board that houses all of your dreams and desires for your life. To make a vision board, grab some old magazines, cut out the necessary pictures and glue them to poster board. Visualizing your dreams and desires at the start of each day will give you the confidence boost you need to move forward.


  • Execute deep breathing and visualization: I suggest taking a few moments each morning to set your intention for the day and reset your nervous system. You can do this by choosing a quiet space, and sit still with your legs crossed and back straight. Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths in and out of the nose.  Envision the energy of the breath going into every cell in your body.


For increased energy, make the inhalations longer than the exhalations; for increased relaxation, make the exhalations longer than the inhalations. After 5 minutes, open your eyes and notice how relaxed and energized your body feels.


  • Create positive self-talk: Your homework is to catch your negative self-talk and repeat at least one positive affirmation to yourself throughout each day. Resetting your mind is a major part of resetting your body.

I choose to eat healthy because I want to feel (fill in the blank).

I choose to let go of my sugar addiction because if I don’t (fill in the blank).

When we are in alignment with self and soul, we can create beautiful businesses, epic ideas and have the most abundant life.
