JUICING AND YOUR THYROID!
It took me years to realize, with my THYROID issues, I needed to blanch kale before I juiced.
Yep, you know me. I love RAW foods and the rich and live enzymes but Kale was taking me down. Did you know these foods can be harmful for an under active thyroid : raw cruciferous vegetables like kale, swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower, radish, bok choy, watercress, soy products, wheat and gluten?
I was juicing Kale after I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and thought this was a home run – finally I was going to feel even more energy but that was not the case.
I actually started to feel more tired. I am not sure if this is happening to you but I want to tell you my story just in case. I was juicing kale, swiss chard and all those green goodies and feeling more tired. Finally, I started to do some research and realized I my thyroid could not handle these foods in the raw state.
HERE IS MY TIP: Boost your thyroid with sea vegetables, iodine rich foods, coconut oil, selenium rich foods and when you JUICE (try blanching the kale if you are experiencing low body temp, dry hair, dry skin, poor sleep, fluid retention etc..
