I have always had digestive issues. You may see the word detox and cleansing a lot on my site because this is how I went from ulcerative colitis to present day – no colitis.
I remember buying book after book trying to understand what foods were good for colitis, acid reflux and constipation. But, every book had a different suggested meal plan, a different protocol and I was confused.
Finally, I took pieces of each book and applied them to my life.
+ eliminate foods then slowly add them back in
+ consume foods that would reduce inflammation in my body such as nettle tea, dandelion and aloe vera
+ make smoothies that were easy to digest
+ make bone broth and sip this bone broth throughout the day (great for the digestive tract)
+ use essential oils to calm my nervous system and support healthy digestion ( I love using doTERRA lemon, peppermint and lavender).
After a week of stress (yes, I may be a health coach but I am human) and a day of Thanksgiving feasting it was time to give my digestion a rest.
Today I am going to cleanse.
This is simple.
To make your digestive distress smoothie, simply combine the following ingredients:
Digestive Distress Smoothie : Smoothie with Aloe Vera
1 1/2 cups dairy free milk
1 ounce aloe vera
1 cup spinach
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoons chia seeds
1/2 sweet potato
dash of cinnamon
dash of maca
1 teaspoon camu camu
sweeten with stevia
Blend and Consume (make sure you chew your smoothie as your stomach does not have teeth)!
Feel free to add bee pollen, shredded coconut but remember if you can keep your meals simple – even your smoothies, your digestion will beging to repair.
